Visiting Santa Fe

The birthplace and home for the Santa Fe International Film Festival, Santa Fe has improved with age. The nation's oldest capital city at over 400 years, is a nexus among the three historical trails that led here.

A cultural center, Santa Fe hosts artists, chefs, wellness experts, filmmakers, and other creative dreamers, allowing an enchanted environment to celebrate their culture, talents and experience. Santa Fe’s unique blend of Anglo, Spanish, and Native Cultures, provide a rich narrative for the area.

Tourism is a major element of the Santa Fe economy, with visitors attracted year-round by the climate and related outdoor activities (such as skiing in years of adequate snowfall; hiking in other seasons) plus cultural activities of the city and the region. The backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo mountains’ majesty and the spectacular sunsets over the Jemez range are nothing short of enchantment.

The Best Way to Enjoy the Fest: A Pass

Purchase a Festival Pass. Instead of having to pick and choose shows and buying individual tickets, a Festival Pass grants you access to all showings and events, making the entire 5 days of the Festival a non-stop experience. If you don't have time for that commitment or there are only a few specific films you have interest in viewing, there's always the option to purchase tickets—either individually or through our package deals. That way you can still enjoy the Festival one screening or event at a time.

The Santa Fe Art Experience is vast. There are many Arts Districts including the historic downtown, especially on and around the Plaza, a one-block square adjacent to the Palace of the Governors, the original seat of New Mexico's territorial government since the time of Spanish colonization. Other areas include "Museum Hill", the site of the major art museums of the city. The Canyon Road arts district, with its galleries, is also a major attraction for locals and visitors alike.

Popular day trips in the Santa Fe area include locations such as the town of Taos, about 70 mi (113 km) north of Santa Fe. The historic Bandelier National Monument and the Valles Caldera can be found about 30 mi (48 km) away. Santa Fe's ski area, Ski Santa Fe, is about 16 mi (26 km) north of the city.

Enjoy Santa Fe during your stay.
