At an elevation of 7000 feet, Santa Fe enjoys 300 days of sunshine
per year, and moderate
temperatures in all four seasons.
Summertime high temperatures
usually reach the 80s, with occasional days in the 90s. Nevertheless, Santa Fe's low humidity makes summer days very comfortable, and any spot is the shade feels deliciously cool. Summer mornings and evenings are dramatically cooler than mid-day, with night-time lows in the 50s. Remember to bring an extra layer when you go out for the evening.
Summer visitors also should prepare for the brief afternoon
thundershowers that occasionally punctuate our "monsoon" season
in July and August.
In spring and fall, Santa Fe's
weather is cool, sunny and dry, with highs in the 60s
or 70s, and relative humidity often below 30%. Be prepared
for glorious, balmy days seeing the sights followed by cozy evenings around a kiva fireplace.
Wintertime is beautiful in
Santa Fe with a light dusting of snow settling on old adobe
walls and lying gently on the boughs of juniper and pinon
trees. Snow seldom accumulates, however, as day-time highs
often reach into the 40s or 50s, and Santa Fe's abundant sunshine
puts the best face on a winter day.
