Gemstones

Here are many of the gemstones we use in our jewelry. Some gemstones, like amethyst, are naturally faceted, while other gems, like opal, are not faceted. Due to the differences in faceting and the shape and color of the item of jewelry, our gemstone choices vary item to item.

We get some of our rubies and sapphires from Iflal and other Sri Lankan stone dealers. In May of 2005, we spent two weeks building a house for refugees as part of a tsunami relief program. At that time, we were also able to see Iflal and visit his factory. (See Marc's story of what we saw and experienced during that trip). Iflal lost all three of his jewelry stores, which were located on beach front resorts. Fortunately, all his family and friends were safe.

Take a tour of Ifal's factory in Sri Lanka and see how some of the gems used in our jewelry are cut. There is also a photo of the house we helped build after the tsunami.
