Powers of the Mind
Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD
This presentation emphasizes the empirical data collected in the field of parapsychology with regard to extrasensory perception, including precognition, clairvoyance and telepathy. It offers a theoretical model for understanding these seemingly inexplicable phenomena in terms of the physics and mathematics of hyperspace.
Presenter Bio: Jeffrey serves as President of the Intuition Network, an organization of thousands of individuals in business, government, health, science and education who are interested in cultivating and applying intuitive skills. As host of the weekly national public television series, Thinking Allowed, he has pioneered the introduction of deep, authentic and thoughtful discussions in a broadcast medium noted mostly for soundbites and sensationalism. In this capacity he conducts interviews with leading figures in science, philosophy, psychology, health and spirituality. Jeffrey is the author of Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems and Thinking Allowed.

Metaphors from Neuroscience:
Tools to Expand Spiritual Consciousness
Joan King, PhD
The energy that cells accessed in their formation process billions of years ago is present in each and every cell of our body today. The life of each cell emanates from an abundance of information--a blueprint. Every moment of every day, this blueprint is translated effectively and harmoniously into sustaining and communicating activities. In a marvelously timed sequence, stored information becomes accessible, at the precise moment it is needed. The synchronicity of molecular events constitutes a melodic symphony of exquisitely timed, reliable and repeatable activities. It is the dance of life, life pulsing with wisdom. As the cells differentiated and formed larger co-operatives of tissues, organs and systems, they continued to interpret and shape source energy into other forms. Using their encoded DNA, RNA and proteins, cells invented mechanisms to signal each other so that communication could occur between them in more complex structures, i.e., tissues, organs and systems. The signals were pivotal as the basis of communication allowing these complex structures to emerge and cooperatively function in harmony.
The nervous system is an exquisitely designed integrated composite of neurons and non-neuronal cells. In addition to viewing this system as an elegant collection of collaborating geniuses, it is also a great teacher within. In this session we will examine functional aspects of neurons as metaphors to expand Spiritual Consciousness. Using specific functional metaphors, we will discuss how to:
- Live from the "inside out": nuclear DNA and cells, including neurons
- Pulse with the vibrations of life: neuronal "refractory" periods
- Remold life moment-by-moment: neuronal plasticity
- Actualize the potentials in life - now: activating neurons
- Tap into life's renewal process: functional recruitment
- Claim the abundance of the universe: neurons in development
- Reach out to others: neuronal migration.
Presenter Bio: Joan has twenty five years of experience as an educator, scientist and administrator in universities and academic-based organizations. She was also a Dominican Sister for 11 years. Joan has developed and published two interactive learning programs in neuroscience, created and directed a Center for Research in Reproduction and was a research chemist at the United States Department of Agriculture, and consults to the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health.

Enlightenment is a Concept
Arjuna Ardagh
Enlightenment is a concept created by the ambitious mind. In this moment now, nothing real exists like that. There is only this, as it is, simple, absolutely alive and out of time altogether. Our minds are addicted to more and better, an upgrade to my airline ticket, my RAM, my car and my wife. Seeking for enlightenment is the ultimate nightmare of the mind. When we relax this incessant desire for better or more, even for a moment, we know real peace. We get the joke. And spiritual life begins for real, to endlessly make love to this moment, in all its countless forms and appearances, with no ambition to get anywhere else at all.
Presenter Bio: Arjuna is the founding Director of the Living Essence Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the transformation of one's experience from lack to fullness. He has studied in many different disciplines, both Western and Eastern in origin. He is the author of Relaxing into Clear Seeing and How About Now. Arjuna teaches extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe offering Meetings in the Heart. He states, "We have a natural longing for freedom - we constantly attempt to expand beyond confining limits: financially, politically, in our relationships and with our health. But even after we have achieved our goals, we often still have a sense of unnatural confinement. True freedom is to awaken to who you really are - limitless and endlessly free."
