Celebrating the opening of an exhibition of photos, video, sound recordings and various memorabilia commemorating the 30-year anniversary of the CageTrain, which took place in 1978, embarking from Bologna's main train station and making stops along the way for special sonic events.

Public spaces within the Museum:RELAY ~ NYC!
La Barbara performs with Enso New Music Group members in the galleries at New York City's Museum of Modern Art. For this music event celebrating the one-year anniversary of MoMA's reopening, thirteen improvising musicians circulate throughout the Museum, performing in three different spaces within the building, sculpting the sounds within an environment, encouraging the public to view the art in a subtly different context and to ponder the possible relationships between the sounds, the visual art, and the space.

The workshop will explore the borders between music, theater and the visual arts while broadening the experience of participants through cross-disciplinary collaboration. Participants will be encouraged to leave comfortable ground behind and to stretch their imaginations through active generation of new work. The program, entitled New Music for Voice: Traditional to Experimental Works, features works by Luciano Berio, Earle Brown, John Cage, Morton Feldman, Orlando Jacinto Garcia, La Barbara, Alvin Lucier and Morton Subotnick.

La Barbara hosts Insights, a series of discussions with composers of contemporary "opera" at American Music Center, NYC. The first installment features Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho in discussion of her opera L'Amour de Loin.
