Description: * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible, especially on and near the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon burn areas. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast New Mexico, including the following areas, in north central New Mexico, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In northeast New Mexico, Northeast Highlands. * WHEN...From noon MDT today through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving thunderstorms will develop over the Sangre De Cristo Mountains Sunday afternoon and spread slowly eastward to include the adjacent highlands. These storms will produce heavy rainfall. The heavy rainfall threat will persist into Sunday night and then increase again on Monday. Storm total rainfall amounts from Sunday afternoon through Monday will range from 1.0 to 1.5", but spotty higher totals up to 3.0" are possible. This type of rainfall will cause flash flooding on the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon burn areas with the potential for dangerous debris flows. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
